A New Camp Program with an Old Camp Heart

Call To Action

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the closing of Camp Sacandaga. We have operated under a lease to own agreement which ended at the end of February. Although we worked tirelessly to secure a mortgage, our camper enrollment number over the past years would not support the high cost of the camp and the mortgage. We have exhausted every viable option, but in the end it was the only option for the program.

I want you all to know how proud I am of our campers and all that they have done over the years. I hope they will continue on at other camp programs. I have a few camp directors form other programs that have reached out and are willing to take our campers into their programs. If you would like more information please let me know.

I will be working over the next week to issue full refunds. If for some reason you do not get yours, please let me know.

This is a difficult time for everyone. I will be closing the camp facebook pages and business page. There is a Friends of Camp Sacandaga page that will remain open for those of you who wish to share your memories of camp. I know many of the folks there are a great resource and support.

I am truly sorry that we have reached this point and am heartbroken over the situation. I know each of you loved camp and I know each of you will find a new place to call your own.I wish you and your family happiness and hope you find a program like Camp Sacandaga that you can enjoy.

Sincerely,

Jim Tavares
